Marzee was the daughter of Nannie and Louis Cooper. She lived in Taylors Valley until moving to Hill County in 1934. In 1936, she married Gene Baird, and he preceded her in death in 1961. Most of her life she worked as a caregiver to children and also worked for Fireside Nursing Home. In 1981, she became a very important part in raising Greg and Shelby Markwardt after the death of their father. Helping children was always the most important thing in her life and what brought her the most happiness. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one brother, John Cooper, three sisters, Velma Dobbins, Clara Beaty, and Mary "Sis" Baird, and great niece, Kristen Leatherwood. She attended Line Street United Methodist Church in Hillsboro. Survivors include: Two sisters, Louise Leatherwood of Hillsboro, and Charlene Vinyard of San Marcos; Four nephews, Hal Beaty, Mike Leatherwood, Gary Baird and Kent Vinyard; Four nieces, Marilyn Sanders, Diane Davis, Nancy Kelly and Lana Crow; great nieces and nephews; Greg and Tera Markwardt, Matt and Shelby Crawford, Kim and Adam McCleskey; all her beloved great-great nieces and nephews; Lauren, Garrett, Jake, Megan, Audri, Sydney and Marley.
