Alice Sorensen

Alice Marie Sorensen, 75, of Woodbury passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 14, 2018, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Pastor Kenny Kennedy of Trail To The Cross Cowboy Church in Hillsboro officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Sunday prior to service time. Mrs. Sorensen will lie in state beginning Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m.

Born October 25, 1942 in Coon Rapids, IA, she was the daughter of John and Mable Alice (Montague) Racz. She grew up in Marion, IA where she attended school. Alice proudly served her country in the United States Army from 1962-1964. Following her service time, she met Lee Edward Sorensen and they were married on September 14, 1964 in Waubeek, IA. They began raising their family in Iowa and moved to Texas in 1986. Alice enjoyed gardening, doing arts and crafts, and sewing.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Lee Edward Sorensen on February 1, 2018; two brothers, LeRoy Racz and Leslie Ockenfels; and sister, Patricia Grady.

Survivors include her three children, Duane Sorensen and Linda Carnes, both of Itasca, and Karl Sorensen and wife, Faith Ann, of Woodbury; brother, Hal Racz of Cedar Rapids, IA; six sisters, Carol Staton of Manchester, IA, Elaine Turner and husband, Dexter, of Columbus, MS, Diana Lindsey of Palo, IA, Theresa Racz of Hillsboro, Jonnie Fleenor and husband, Michael of Hillsboro, and Echo Willis and husband, Randy, of Hollywood, MD; eleven grandchildren, Keira, Kelly, Kurtis, Kevin, Tonya, Chelsea, Desiree, Justin, Brady, Kolby, and Karlee; and six great-grandchildren, Marissa, Landen, Serenity, Christian, Traisyn, and Jasce.
