Alice Loree (Motley) Brown

Alice Loree Brown, age 99, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at Wesley House in Hillsboro. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard, Texas with Rev. Nancy Schusler and Pastor Kevin Diggs officiating. She will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro. Facial masks and Social distancing are required.

Loree was born May 26, 1921, east of Irene, Texas to William Thomas and Mary Alice (Griffing) Motley Brown.  All her life was spent in the Irene community. The last 7 years were spent at the Wesley House in Hillsboro. In 1935 she met her high school sweetheart, William N Brown, they were united in marriage on October 9, 1938, and were happily married for 81 years. They lived on a farm in Irene, which she enjoyed.

Loree later worked at factories in Milford and Corsicana and then was hired as a teacher aid at Bynum for 8 years. She always wanted to be a teacher and after her children graduated college, she decided to pursue her dream of being a schoolteacher. Attending classes at Hill College at night and summers at MCC in Waco. Loree also transferred to Baylor and graduated a year and one summer later. She taught 5 years in Malone, 7 years in Hillsboro and retired at 65 years and went back to enjoying life on the farm with her husband. She enjoyed traveling, playing “42” games, being with family and friends, and served as a docent at the Cell Block Museum in Hillsboro for many years.

Preceding her in death were her husband, William N Brown and son in law, Ray Loveless.

Loree is survived by her daughter, Barbara Loveless; two sons, Larry Brown and wife, Julia and Ronald Brown and wife, Pam; seven grandchildren, Kathy Loveless, Darrel Loveless, Mike Loveless and wife, Nikia, Paige Jones and husband, J.B., Kyle Brown and wife, Julie, William C. Brown, and Lesleigh Smith and husband, Tommy; ten great-grandchildren, Reagan McCurlie and husband, Bob, Michelle Martinez and husband, Esteban, Lindsey Lockhart, Donavan Brown, Kaitlynn Brown, Kasen Loveless, Kaleb Loveless, Natalia Loveless, Gavin Smith and Liam Smith; and one great-great grandchild, Hadleigh McCurlie.

The Family would like to thank the Wesley House staff and Encompass Home Health for their love and care of Alice.
