He attended Blinn College, Sam Houston State University and received a Master of Industrial Arts degree from Texas A&M University. As a teacher, he was employed at LaPorte High School where he served as a math teacher and rodeo coach and also at San Jacinto College in Pasadena for sixteen years where he served as Vocational Counselor and Dean of Vocational Education. On June 4, 1988, across the street from what was to become their home on Lake Whitney, he and Pam were married. He loved his family and he loved living on the lake, so he traded his cows for boating, water skiing and fishing. An avid fisherman, upon retiring, he started a fishing business called Pro-Stiper Guide Service.
Allen also had a love for automobiles, racing and tractor pulling. He and Tim spent numerous hours working, fixing and traveling around Texas competing in various tractor pulls, as well as showing Braham cattle.
He loved his farm at Riesel...so much that in November 2013, he received the “100 Year Certificate of Honor” presented to “Fairview Farm” for his family’s service to Texas Agriculture, presented by Texas Commissioner Todd Staples.
He was a member of King Memorial United Methodist Church in Whitney .
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, George, who passed away at age 15.
