Allen Stoker

Allen Stoker, 91, of Hillsboro died Monday, August 13, 2007, at Homestead of Hillsboro Nursing Home. Allen was born April 26, 1916 in the Lakenon Community of Hill County, Texas the son of Byron Merril and Mae Stoker. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and built roads in New Mexico before returning to Hill County where he farmed all his life. He married Ella Mae McGaugh March 12, 1940 in Italy, Texas. He was a member of Brandon Baptist Church in Brandon, Texas. Survivors include his wife, Ella Mae Stoker of Mertens; two sons, James Allen Stoker and wife Glenda of Abilene and Larry L. Stoker and wife Carolyn of Mertens; two sisters, Marie Carter of Mansfield and Ada Anderson of Fort Worth; five grandchildren, Candice Evans, Lynette Finley, Kelli Wilcox, Lauren Stoker, and Kevin Stoker; several great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special niece, Viola Ann May, that Mr. & Mrs. Stoker raised as their own.
