Allene Jennings, 91, resident of The Waterford in Deer Park, TX, died on Thursday, December 15, 2011, in Pasadena.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. Visitation will be held at the chapel prior to the funeral at 10:00 a.m. Committal service will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery.
Mrs. Jennings was born on November 23, 1920, and reared in Azle, Texas, by her parents Elza Phan and Emma Vianna Cox. Mrs. Jennings went to high school in Azle and graduated Valedictorian of her class. She married Ross in Ft. Worth where they resided for 30 years, retired to Whitney, and lived there until 2007 when they relocated to Deer Park. They were married for 63 years. Mrs. Jennings was a U. S. Postal worker during World War II and later retired from the Roberts and Rhea Insurance Company. She was a faithful member of Forest Hill Presbyterian Church in Ft. Worth, Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Whitney, and First Presbyterian Church of Pasadena.
Allene was preceded in death by her husband, Ross, her parents, and her brother, Lonnie Roy Cox.
She is survived by her sister, Jewel Andrews and her brother and sister-in-law, Claude and Mary Cox of Ft. Worth and two daughters, Carol Parks and husband, Lawrence Wayne Parks, Sr., Rhonda Haskins and husband, Stephen Murray Haskins, grandchildren, Kimberly Michelle Parks, Lawrence Wayne Parks, Jr. and wife Kristen Parks, Jamie Denise Haskins, Ross Brannon Haskins and great-grandchildren, Makensie Paige, Emma Elisabeth, Macy Lauren and Addison Ainsley Parks.
Memorial donations may be made to one of the following: First Presbyterian Church of Pasadena Garden Ministry, 4647 Preston, Pasadena, TX 77505 or to a charity of choice. The family wishes to thank the angels of The Waterford and Bayshore Hospital for their loving care. Mrs. Allene Jennings lived a Godly, obedient life, loved others and nurtured everyone she knew.
