Allie Morgan Davenport Jr., age 97, of Whitney, TX passed away on September 9, 2021 peacefully at home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at King United Methodist Church in Whitney, TX with Mr. Mike Kervee and Mr. Brad Slaten officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney, TX.
He was born in Hope, New Mexico to Allie Morgan Davenport Sr. and Irene Moore Davenport. They moved to Wichita Falls, TX when he was 18 months old.
After graduating from High School, Allie enlisted in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He was an airplane mechanic. He served in North Africa and Italy. Allie married Oma Lee Davis on September 24, 1944. After the war, he worked at Wichita engineering until he answered the call to become a preacher. Allie graduated from the Perkins School of Theology at SMU in 1954. He served at various churches in the North Texas Conference. Allie retired in 1989 and moved to Whitney, TX where he was an active member of the Cause Senior Center until they closed their operations. His hobbies included photography and bible study.
Allie is preceded in death by his parents; Allie Sr. and Irene Moore; Wife, Oma Lee Davis; two son-in-law’s, Terry Shoaff and Tommy Shaw; great-grandchildren, Brandi Vigil and Gabriel Shoaff.
He is survived by his daughters, Marene Shoaff, and Nancy Templin and husband, Bob; grandchildren, Leeann Vigil and husband, Juan, Steve Shoaff, Heather Young, Jessica Shaw, Dara Shoaff; great-grandchildren, Ashlee Liberto and Mike, Justin Shoaff, Marc Shoaff and Rebecca, Hayley Shoaff, Chaz Shoaff, Jack Young and Evan; great-great grandchildren, Kaylee Liberto, Kylee Liberto, and Aiden Shoaff.
