Alma Lee, 86, of Leroy passed away Monday, February 15, 2016, at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 18, at Vaughan Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

The oldest of five children, Alma was born April 13, 1929 in Centerville to Dee and Hattie Winchester. She worked in the fields with her family and helped to care for her younger brothers, Myrl, Norman, Charlie, and John Dee. After her marriage to Horace L. “Fat” Lee in the late 1940's, she went to work at Ennis Business Forms and Kress’. She and Fat lived in Milford and enjoyed riding horses together. The couple adopted a son, Jackie. Alma and Fat later divorced and she married Norman Oliver in the late 1960's. Together, they had a daughter, Katherine.

A great seamstress, Alma began working in sewing factories to help support her family. They lived in Milford, Leroy, Frost, and Austonio. Following her divorce from Norman in 1983, she and Katherine returned to Milford. In 1986, Alma and Fat remarried and moved to Birome where they lived until his death in 1988. She later moved to Leroy. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and her favorite pastime was fishing. Alma especially loved the outdoors and spending time with her family.

Also preceding her in death were her parents and four brothers.

Survivors include her two children, Katherine Kurtz and husband, Adolph, of Leroy and Jackie Winchester and wife, Linda, of Milford; four grandchildren, Ashleigh Hodges of Clute, David Hodges of Leroy, and Lee Morris and Wendy Morris, both of Milford; and seven great-grandchildren.
