Alma Taylor, 88, of Whitney, passed away at a local nursing home on May 29, 2014. The family will hold a memorial service at 1:00 p.m.on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Park Plaza Nursing Home in Whitney.
Alma was born in Rio Vista, on April 3, 1926, to John and Lottie (Putnam) Crecelius. She graduated from Rio Vista High School where she was involved in sports. She loved all sports and was also a barrel racer and liftime member of the Barrel Racing Association in Fort Worth.
At an early age, she worked in banking, and she was a homemaker while raising her family. She then worked at Blum ISD as a teacher’s aide until she retired at age 72. Alma was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blum.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Elda and Carroll Crecelius and a son-in-law, Lynn Boen.
She is survived by daughters, Joann Randolph of Hillsboro and Cinda Schronk and husband, Roger also of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Buffy Prestwood and husband, Mike, Brandon Boen and wife, Sara, Jill Guthrie and husband, Rodney, Jack Schronk and wife, Lisa, Jacelyn Brown and husband, Christopher and Bobby Schronk; great-granchildren, Granger Boen, Addyson Guthrie, Graycen Guthrie, Taylor Schronk and Makalya Schronk; one brother, Glen Crecelius and wife, Lonene, of Fort Worth; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity or hospice of one’s choice.
