Alton L. Brown, 76, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2004, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Alton was born August 14, 1928 in Blum, Texas the son of Claude and Anna Marrs Brown. He grew up in Hillsboro. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. On June 16, 1951 he married Doris Goodman. After their marriage, they moved to Odessa where he worked in oil fields. In the early 1960's, they moved back to Hillsboro. They briefly moved to Fort Worth, before settling back in Hillsboro in 1966. He worked at Towne Square Furniture before going to work at Harberson Fischer where he remained until retiring in 1988. He was an avid county music lover. Preceding him in death where his father; his mother; step-mother, Nora Brown; three brothers, Manuel Brown, Marvin Brown and twin brother, Carlton Brown; and a son, Gary Brown. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Doris Brown of Hillsboro; four children, Glenn Brown of Hillsboro, Lynn Brown and wife, Cindy, of Hillsboro, Delores Ricker and husband, Steve, of Jackson, Mississippi, and Randy Carlton Brown and wife, Jean, of Peoria; a brother, George Brown of Fort Worth; a sister, Claudine Buchanan of Aledo; sister-in-law, Louise Brown of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, P.
