Andrea Rizo

Andrea Villarreal Rizo, 92, of Abbott passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013, in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Chaplain Stephen Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Monday, June 24, at the funeral home.

Andrea was born November 10, 1920 in Brandon to Anastasio and Ruperta Villarreal. She lived through the Great Depression, which taught her to overcome obstacles in her life and how to survive. She saw the effects of war on our country and was proud to be an American as two of her sons served in the military. She believed one should always help others and lived by example.

In 1939, she married Refugio Rizo of Abbott. They were happily married for 52 years before Refugio preceded her in death in 1992. Andrea was a wonderful wife and mother. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, and gardening. She was a fantastic seamstress and creative designer. A wonderful cook, anyone who visited her always enjoyed a hot meal. She was born with a green thumb and could make anything grow. Andrea was an amazing Mother and Grandmother and will be missed by all of us.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; a sister; and five brothers.

Andrea is survived by her children, Mrs. Lupe Longoria of Mansfield, Rudy Rizo and wife, Jo, of West, John Rizo and wife, Jane, of Abbott, Raul Rizo of Muskogee, OK, Lydia Rizo Guzman of Denver, CO, and Andrea Davidson and husband, Jerry, of Abbott; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sister, Anna De La Cruz; and her niece, nephews, and cousins.

The family appreciates all the prayers and support from family and friends.
