ANN COLLIER

Ann Collier, 80, of Whitney passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Lake Whitney Medical Center in Whitney. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 6:30 pm at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. A Memorial Mass will held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro with Father Ouseph and Father George officiating.

Ann was born October 26, 1931 in Denison, TX to the late Ernest and Margaret Leyh. On December 20, 1964 she married Joe W. Collier in Arlington, TX. Ann worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 36 years retiring in 1986 as a second line supervisor. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro where she was also active in the Catholic Daughters of America Court #2143. Ann was a very active member of the McCown Valley Association and also the Lake Whitney Ministerial Alliance where she served as treasurer for several years. She was also involved with the Salvation Army.

Ann along with her husband, Joe, enjoyed traveling all over the world including about 30 countries. They belonged to two different RV groups and spent many summers in the Burro Mountains in New Mexico. She and Joe loved going on cruises.

Also, Ann was member of the Lake Whitney Social Club that met every Sunday night where she enjoyed the fellowship and playing dominos with her many friends. She was an avid Bingo player.

Survivors include her husband, Joe W. Collier of Whitney; one daughter, Danette Dunlap of Abilene, TX; two brothers, Norman Leyh and wife, Mary of Arlington, TX, Herman Leyh of Dripping Springs, TX; sister-in-law, Annette Gibaud and husband, Don of Arlington, TX; two grandsons, Jamie Dunlap of Abilene, TX and Daniel Dunlap of Throckmorton, TX; several nieces, nephews, other relative,; and a host of friends.
