Anne N. Sprague, 78, of Whitney, went to be with the Lord on August 8, 2017, after a short battle with cancer at Providence Hospice Place in Waco. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at First Church of the Nazarene in Whitney at noon on Saturday, August 12, 2017, with Rev. Greg Johnson officiating. A private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date in Auburn, IN.
Mrs. Sprague was born on November 18, 1938, to Rose B (Adley) Wallace and Dee DeChaume, in Whitney. She married Charles H. Sprague on April 28, 1980, in Auburn, Indiana and he preceded her in death on August 11, 1993. She was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Ethel Marie, and her brother, Vernon DeChaume in 2015.
She was raised in the Whitney area. She and Chuck returned to Whitney to retire in 1983. A member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Whitney, Anne was very active in the church and volunteered in many areas of church ministry as well as teaching Sunday school. She considered the church as part of her extended family. A big animal advocate, she cared for many stray animals during her life in Whitney. Her fur babies were her life.
Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Christlieb and husband, Mike, of Auburn, IN; two step-sons, Steve Sprague and wife, Jane, of Garret, IN and Jim Sprague and wife, Jan of Auburn, IN; a sister-in-law, Sheryl DeChaume of Petersburg, IL; eight grandchildren, Bryan Sprague and wife, Connie, Shannon Naas, Larry Sprague and wife, Susan, Kim Pierson and husband, Brian, Stephanie McNamara and husband, Dean, Sean Sprague, Jason Christlieb and wife, April, and Jonathan Christlieb; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
