Annette Weeks was born July 25,1937, in the small community of Bethel, between Hillsboro and Whitney. Annette was the middle child of three daughters to loving parents Ruth (Sessums) and A.J. Blocker. Her sisters Vivagene Copeland and Joyce Gilbert were both siblings and best friends throughout their adult lives. Annette attended Bethel School before attending Hillsboro High for two years then transferring and graduating from Whitney High. There she was on the student council, played basketball and was a cheerleader. At Whitney High she met her future husband Don J. Weeks for 67 years until her passing. Don and Annette were inseparable and worked as a team with each semi privately saying they let the other think they were the boss.
Before Annette's 30 year plus career at Bell Helicopter where she was active as well as a trustee in the UAW union she had worked at a local newspaper, a local furniture store and during her school days an ice cream parlor. Annette loved music leaning to favor Ernest Tubb, Porter Wagner and as she said Waylon Jennings as long as she didn't see how scruffy he looked. She also had an affinity for 50's rock with Chuck Berry and Little Richard being among her favorites. Annette loved board and tabletop games. Monopoly to Chinese checkers and every domino game invented. She was more concerned with the social aspects rather than winning or losing. She got that trait from her mother Ruth, her father A.J. on the other hand would play a six year old in checkers like it was Russian roulette. Annette's most known trait was without a doubt was her sense of humor which could lean to the mischievous side. Her proudest accomplishments could have been career or financially related but she let it be known it was of her daughter Lanny Dean, her son Randy Weeks her grandchildren Jennifer Osinga, Josh Dean and Jill McAngus and each of her 9 great grandchildren. Of her quirks you could ask twenty people and get twenty different answers. Two of my favorites were of her fascination of phone scammers and how to try to turn the tables on them and at any social gathering she would know the
running and final head count.
Her favorite scripture changed according to the situation. Not long ago she had sent this one to me and it seems right for this situation Psalms 73:24 Thou will guide me with thy counsel And afterward receive me to glory.
Survivors include her husband Don Weeks,; daughter, Lannette Dean and husband Joe; son, Randy Weeks; sister, Joyce Gilbert and husband Bill; grandchildren, Jennifer Osinga and husband Joseph, Josh Dean, Jill McAngus and husband Ross; great-grandchildren, MaKayla, Kaleb, Kylie, Katie, Jackie Osinga, Paxton Dean, Emma, Elle, Eli McAngus.
