Annie Lee was born December 6, 1929 in Alabama the daughter of Gaston S. and Frances L. Brooks Howard. In 1934 she moved to Texas and graduated as valedictorian of the 1946 class of Malone High School. On April 15, 1948 she married M. J. ?Cell? Wright and he preceded her in death on May 28, 1985. For many years she was employed with Jarvis-Paris-Murphy and Hill County Grain Company. She was an insurance agent associated with Wright Insurance Agency in Hillsboro before becoming Vice President of the First National Bank of Bynum and later the First National Bank of Hillsboro. She spent all of life in Malone and retired from the Malone I.S.D. in 2003. Annie Lee was a district officer of the Women?s Society of Christian Services of the Methodist Church, served on the Heart of Texas Council of Governments Committee on Aging, was a member of the Hill County Democratic Executive Committee for twenty years, a longtime member of the Malone Methodist Church and later the Penelope United Methodist Church and most recently the First United Methodist Church in Dawson, and served as secretary of the Salem-Irene Cemetery Association. Survivors include a son, Larry Wright and wife, Roma, of Austin; a daughter, Linda Finch and husband, Jim, of Brandon; a brother, Charles Howard of Malone; two sisters, Mrs. Melvin Huse of Richardson and Mrs. Carl Watson of Waxahachie; seven grandchildren, Chris Finch, Karen Finch, Jessica Wright, Karleen Prewitt, Donna Broder, Mark Fletcher, and Regina Tittley; and several great-grandchildren, among whom is Collin Finch.
