April Ellen Clinkscales, 52, of Peoria died Friday, February 5, at her residence.
April was born July 22, 1968 in Waco, the daughter of Edith and Gary Clinkscales. She had lived in Hill County all of her life, in Hillsboro, Hubbard for four years as a young child and most recently west of Peoria on her farm, that she dearly loved. She attended all 12 years of public school in Hillsboro. After going to Hill College, she transferred to Texas A&M in College Station, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1994. After graduation, she moved back to Hillsboro and became a teacher at Hill College, where she continued to teach until her passing. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro.
April loved her family, her friends, music, the color pink, her job, animals, her church, her God, and, in her own words, “never met a cheese I didn’t like”. She was a devoted daughter, loving sister, loyal friend, and an awesome aunt. April was a peacemaker, a great teacher (not just academically), a hard worker, self-sufficient and strong-willed. She was gifted musically and could play the flute, saxophone, piano, and had a beautiful singing voice. She also enjoyed playing in the handbell choir in her church. April was almost always smiling and chose to focus on the positive. She was loving, happy, funny and fair, and will be missed by everyone that knew her.
Survivors include her mother Edith Omberg and her husband Max; her father, Gary Clinkscales and his wife Jo; brothers Jason Clinkscales and wife, Karen, and Jonathan Clinkscales; stepsisters, Kelli Holmes and her husband David and Kathy Omberg; stepbrother, Kyle Omberg and his wife, Jaye; and nieces and nephews, Layne Clinkscales, Trey Holmes, Avery Holmes, Alexis Omberg, Joseph Omberg
Due to the pandemic no services will be held at this time, but a memorial celebration of life ceremony will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Autism Society of America, First United Methodist Church or Hill County Paw Pals.
