The family of Arthur C. Stites is mourning the passing of Arthur after a lengthy illness on December 16, 2024. Graveside services will take place at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro.
He was born November 18, 1945, in Mexia, Texas.
He attended school in east Texas, attending high school at Poly Tech in Fort Worth, Kenai, Alaska, and graduating from Mertzen High School in Mertzen, Texas. He was a participant in Golden Gloves in Fort Worth, Texas.
Arthur attended college at Tarleton State and graduated from Texas A&M in 1969. He was a member of the A&M ROTC Core.
He served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, The Presidio in California, and a tour in Vietnam. Arthur was honorable discharged with the rank of Captain. He worked in Alaska as a member of Laborers Union Local 341 and Pipe Fitters Union Local 367, both in Anchorage, Alaska. He worked all over the United States from Alaska to Texas and in between.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Charles Edward Stites and Addie Louise Stites, and his brother, Charles Edward Sties II.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Janett Sue Stites; two stepdaughters, Renee Barett and Joanie Mullens, and spouses; two step-granddaughters, Willow and Maggie; two sisters, Anna Willenborg and spouse, Waymon, and Tommie Griswell and spouse, Lonnie; nieces and nephews, Leigh Ann Poso and spouse, Jason, James Poteet, Caitlin Poteet, Jacob Poso, Charles Griswell, Shayne Griswell, Ethan Griswell, John Griswell, Hulon Pate and Jared Pate.
