Barbara Bruce

Barbara Bruce, 54, of Houston died Monday, May 25, 2009, at Vosswood Nursing Center in Houston. Barbara was born June 26, 1954 in Lake Charles, Louisiana the daughter of Ronald and Dorothy Eichler Deniston-Pope. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Houston and received her Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of St. Thomas. On July 11, 1992 she married Jim Bruce in Abbott. She loved shopping and did beautiful needlepoint. She was a renaissance woman who loved decorating her home and taking care of it. She had an eye for color and coordination. She enjoyed her companion, Jackson, and her family very much. She was a member of Abbott Baptist Church. Preceding her in death was her father. Survivors include her husband, Jim Bruce of Houston; mother, Dorothy Pope of Houston; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jimmy and Sue Bruce of Abbott; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cindy and Tom Zatopek of Fort Worth; and special companion, Jackson.
