Barbara Engstrom

Barbara Nell Jarvis Engstrom, 88, of Arlington and Austin passed away Friday, December 14, 2018. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the Brandon Cemetery near Brandon, Texas. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m., Sunday prior to the graveside service at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Born December 13, 1930 in Dallas, she was the daughter of Joseph Robert and Ethel Alma (Grimes) Jarvis. In 1952 she received her BS in Education at SMU and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Barbara was a kindergarten teacher for 22 years at Austin ISD and St. George’s Episcopal School in Austin. She was an Elder of the University Presbyterian Church in Austin, where she sang in the choir. She was a Moderator of Presbyterian Women and Chairwoman of the Board for the University Presbyterian Church Child Development Center.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Mary Ann (Jarvis) Stepp; brother, William Robert Jarvis

Survivors include her children, Philip Andrew and wife Tara Engstrom, David Jarvis and wife Nelda Engstrom, Daniel James and wife Terri Engstrom, and Ruth Elaine and husband Dusty Farrell; grandchildren, John Austin Davidson, Darren Davidson, Andrew Engstrom, Benjamin Engstrom, Stephen Engstrom, Nathan Engstrom, Nicolas Engstrom, Travis Engstrom, Grace Nicewander, Mary Claire Engstrom, Erin Engstrom, and Allison Engstrom; and 13 great grandchildren.
