Barbara Hill

Barbara “Bobbie” Hill, age 85 of Bellville, passed away Saturday morning at her home in Bellville. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Rev. John Brandt of First Baptist Church in Hempstead officiating. Burial will follow at Whitney Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bobbie was born in Forest, Mississippi to Laverne and Beatrice (Overton) Tadlock on July 11, 1932. At a young age, she moved to Whitney, where she grew up and graduated from Whitney High School. Just out of school, she was united in marriage on November 21, 1947 to Glen Ladell Hill. The couple would share 54 loving years together until his passing on their anniversary in 2001.

After her first two children were older, Bobbie went to work for the Whitney Clinic, working in the lab and for Dr. James Barton for many years. She enjoyed sewing, but her passion was cooking. Every meal seemed to be a feast of salads, meat, potatoes and a special dessert.

In 1999, the couple moved to Hempstead not long after Ladell’s retirement from Hill County. During her years there, Bobbie was a very active member of First Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ganelle Tadlock; and a granddaughter, Kandra Dietiker.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Randy Hill and wife, Sheila of Whitney, Pam Crow and husband, Bobby, of Hempstead, Micky Hill and wife, Betty, also of Hempstead, and Stacy Helms of Sulphur, LA.; one brother, Howard Tadlock; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Mars and Harmena Cook; 10 grandchildren, Jason, Josh, Chase, Joey, Brahna, Britney, Caley, Jordan, Ashley, and Zachory; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Whitney Memorial Park; PO Box 889; Whitney, TX 76692.
