Barbara Louise Reeves, 80, of Dallas passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro with Rev. Darrel Beggs of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to services at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Born January 29, 1938, in Bassett, VA, she was the daughter of John William and Lucy Evelyn (Goad) Edwards. From 1975-1985, she was employed as an iron worker for Iron Workers’ Union #481. Barbara was the first female iron worker in that union. A very family oriented person, she took great joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren. Barbara also enjoyed watching and listening to gospel music programs on TV.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Robert Reeves in June 1993; brother, Dennis Edwards; and two sisters, Ruth Martin and Frances Matherly.

Survivors include her children, Michael Matherly, Bunny Shiver, Danny Matherly, Dale Matherly, Nancy Matherly, and Ray Matherly; brothers, James and Clifton Edwards; two sisters, Ruby Stewart and Peggy Marlowe; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
