Barbara Scott Smith, 77, of Hillsboro passed away Saturday, March 11, 2006 at her home. A private burial was held on Monday, March 13 at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 20, at First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Reed Justus officiating. Visitation will follow at the family home at 308 Corsicana Street. Mrs. Smith was born November 6, 1928 in Shamrock, daughter of the late S. Q. Scott and Gene Walker Scott. On July 29, 1950 she married A. L. Smith, III in Shamrock. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2005. She was a graduate of Texas Tech University where she was a member of Ko-Shari sorority. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Wendell Q. Scott. She is survived by a son, Andrew and wife, Karen, of Hillsboro and a daughter, Carolyn Brim and husband, Mark, of Dallas; granddaughters Catherine and Madalyn Brim of Dallas and grandsons Benjamin Smith of Huntsville and Colin and Patrick Smith of Hillsboro. She is also survived by a niece and nephew and sisters-in-law Fran Smith of Hillsboro and Barbara Scott of Corpus Christi. Mrs. Smith was active in many local organizations including Cub Scouts, PTA, Philotechnos Club, Sesame Club, Priscilla Club and was a founding member of the Hillsboro Heritage League. She was also active in the First United Methodist Church, having served on many of its committees and boards including servicing as director of the kindergarten department for many years.
