Beatrice Holland

Bea was born August 23, 1923 in Hill County, Texas to John H. and Willie L. Duncan Bennett. She lived in Hill County all of her life and graduated from Whitney High School. On July 7, 1941 she married Billy Holland and he preceded her in death on May 3, 1996. For several years she owned and operated a cafe in Whitney and then went to work for Brookshire's for many years in the deli department. A son, Gene Holland, also preceded her in death on May 12, 2003. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a son, Ronnie Holland and wife, Elaine, of Mexia; a sister, Louise Carroll of Whitney; a granddaughter, Ronda Van Meter and husband, Vernon, of Mexia; three great-grandchildren, Robert Van Meter, Jessica Van Meter, and Michael Van Meter all of Mexia; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends including Dottie Strickland, loving companion of Gene Holland, of Hillsboro.
