Ben Wilson “Jiggs” Lanford, 81, of Blum passed away Monday, June 13, 2011, at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro with Mr. Bobby Watt officiating.
Ben was born August 7, 1929 in Hillsboro the son of Walter C. and Kittie Mae (Tarpley) Lanford. He graduated from Hillsboro High School and attended TCU and Texas Tech University. During World War II, Ben served his country in the United States Army. Ben worked at General Dynamics in Fort Worth before retiring to his ranch in Blum, where he raised Angus cattle. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Switzer Lanford.
Survivors include four sisters, Ellan Brandon of Midland, MI, Sue Walker of Lubbock, Sammye Dingle of Jones Creek, and Kitty Mae Parnell and husband, Dan, of Dallas; sister-in-law, Ilene Lanford of Columbus, GA; numerous nieces and nephews; and his two favorite sidekicks, Prissy and Rusty.
