Benita Esparza

Benita Esparza, 79 of Duncanville passed away Saturday morning, June 14, 2014 at a Dallas hospital. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 17, at the Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Father Ouseph I. Thekkumthala officiating. Burial will follow at Itasca Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM, prior to the service on Tuesday.

Born in Waxahachie on March 21, 1935, Benita was the daughter of the late Julia (Lara) and Andrew Pineda. She attended school in Itasca and was the first Hispanic graduate of Itasca High School. After graduation, she moved to Dallas where she went to work for Burrus Mills, which later was acquired by Cargill. She retired from Cargill after more than 20 years of service to the combined firms. She also worked part-time for Bixel Enterprises in Dallas.

Benita had many interests, not the least of which was raising and tending to her flowers. Most of all she enjoyed being a loving, caring grandmother to her grandson. She was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include her daughter, Olga Marshall and husband, Rick, of Duncanville; a brother, Juan Pineda and wife, Janie, of Hillsboro; grandson, Bryan Ward and wife, Tiffany, of Honolulu, HI; a number of cousins including, Rosemary Ramirez; and many other extended family members.
