Bennie Ruth Coleman, 92, long time resident of Hill County, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2011, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Donna Ware of First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro officiating. Burial will follow at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington at 1:30 p.m.
Ruth was born May 2, 1919 near Wynnewood, OK, daughter of Ben and Gertrude (Mills) McLain and sister of Ralph McClain, Kathryn Reed, Art McClain, Blanche Leinthall, Vester McClain, and Fred McClain, all of whom preceded her in death.
She graduated from Wynnewood High School in 1936 and from Oklahoma City Business College in 1938. Ruth worked as a secretary for many years at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, OK, Oklahoma Bar Association in Oklahoma City, OK, and General Services Administration in Dallas and Ft. Worth.
She married Bill Coleman on June 8, 1967. The couple moved from Arlington in 1968 to Hill County, where they enjoyed their life on the Coleman Ranch.
Survivors include her husband, Bill of Hillsboro; daughter, Ruth Ann Thompson and husband, Bill, of Hillsboro; two granddaughters, Laura Thompson of Oakland, CA and Amy Cayzer and husband, Avon, of London, England; step-son, Craig Coleman and wife, Gelia, of Pantego; step-grandson, C. T. Coleman and wife, Lindsey, of Woodbury; two step-great grandsons, Creek and Laithan Coleman of Woodbury; and step-son, Wesley Coleman and wife, Jennifer, of Arlington. A step-daughter, Tona Seibold, preceded her in death in August 1996.
