Benny Bonner

Benny Joe Bonner, 77, of Whitney, passed away on June 23, 2019 at a Waco hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Dr. Gerald Dudley officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Benny was born on July 26, 1941, in Hillsboro, to Joe and Maggie (Hill) Bonner. He was raised in Whitney and graduated from Whitney High School in 1959, attending his 60th high school reunion last month. On January 19, 1963, he married Melva Louise Mantooth in Whitney, Texas and she preceded him in death on November 27, 2014.

For over 40 years he worked for the Dr. Pepper Company before retiring on December 31, 2015.
An avid sports fan, he also enjoyed old country music as well as gospel music and was a very active and faithful member of the Open Range Cowboy Church in Whitney. Watching TV and playing 42 were also favorite pastimes.

Also preceding him in death were his parents and infant twin sisters.

Survivors include his daughter, Christie Bonner and husband, Chuck and son, Robert Bonner and wife, Sheila, all of Whitney; grandchildren, Robert Bonner, Jr and wife, Alexandria, Derek Bonner and Amity Bonner; a great-granddaughter, Aislynn Bonner; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
