Benny Lamson, 56, of Osceola passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Friday evening, December 29, 2017, at Providence Hospice Place in Waco. There will be a celebration of life party at the Brandon Community Center, 7416 State Highway 22, Brandon, TX 76628 on Saturday, January 13, 2018, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
He was born October 17, 1961 in El Paso. During his high school years, he played football and ran track. He was a fast runner and no one could out run him. He was a graduate of Itasca High School.
Benny was the hardest working man his family has ever known. He hauled hay and did anything he could to make a dollar. At the age of eight, he began his working career when his parents opened their first family owned and operated business, Lamson Well Service, in 1969. The kids were known around town as Benny and the Well Diggers. As a teenager, he installed the football field sprinkler system for Itasca ISD. Later in his career, Benny worked for the Brandon Irene Water for 36 years. He also worked for Woodrow Osceola, Files Valley and many other side jobs.
One of his favorite things to do was play the bass. Benny played in quite a few bands over the last 40 years and loved his band families very much!
Preceding him in death were his dad, Leroy Lamson and grandparents, Herman Benton Yarbro and Mary Weinzettle Yarbro and Gurney (Buck) Lamson and Clara Bell Lamson.
Survivors include his mother, Raenell Lamson; wife of 31 years, Leslie Rhea Lamson; daughters, Christina Reyna and Hannah Gonzalez; son-in-law, Eddie Gonzalez; grandchildren, Tyler, Naeomi and Joey; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Tommy Cox, Erma and Randall Bruton, T9E and Bobby Bartlett, and Sandra and Billy Gonzales; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Benny had throat cancer and fought it his way. Dad was a good man, husband, and father he didn’t have to be. He is loved by all and will be missed. A very special thanks to Dr. Seely and everyone at Providence Hospice in Whitney for all their compassion, devotion, and sleepless nights.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Providence Hospice in Whitney 210 N. Bosque Street, Whitney, TX 76692 (254-694-6009).
