Bertha Pursley, 98, of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home. Bertha was born November 17, 1906 in Hill County, Texas the first born child of Grover Hendrix and Sarah Ada Timmons Potter. In 1926 she graduated from Brandon High School. In the 1930's she moved to Dallas and worked as a practical nurse in private homes. During WWII she worked in the map division of the defense plant in Grand Prairie. After the war she worked as a needlework art buyer for A. Harris Department Store until its merger with Sanger Brothers. She then worked for American Hospital Supply Corporation until her retirement in 1970. She married Charlie B. Pursley. After his death in 1971, Bertha moved to Hillsboro. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro, where she was active in it?s homebound ministry for many years. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; five sisters, Minnie Corbin, Fannie Huddleston, Ruby Parks, Dollie Mae Rosson, and Vada Leifester; and one brother, Ben Potter. Survivors include seven nephews and five nieces. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 271, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
