Beth Richcreek, 89, of Hillsboro went to her Heavenly home to be with Jesus on Monday, August 12, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She resided at Homestead Nursing and Rehab when she gained her Angel wings. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2019, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday, August 15, at the funeral home.
Mary Elizabeth "Beth” Burrell was born on February 3, 1930, in Mt. Calm, Texas to Robert Esco and Nancy Ethel (Huffstutler) Burrell. From Mt. Calm, the family moved to Milford and then settled in Penelope. Beth attended and graduated from Penelope High School in 1947. She was an all-star basketball player for the Penelope Wolverines. Her love of the game took her on to play on the Reserve Loan Life team out of Dallas where they traveled to many southern states to play basketball. The highlight of her basketball career was playing in the Nationall AAU Tournament in St. Joseph MO in 1947.
She married Bill Russell on April 8, 1950. They resided in Bynum where they raised their 3 children. They were married 42 years. Bill preceded her in death on March 21, 1992.
She moved to Hillsboro in 1998. She then met and married James "Jim" Richcreek on April 28, 2001. They only shared 3 years together, but there was lots of love in those 3 years. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2004.
Beth worked in Health Care for more than 40 years. She started working at the Boyd Sanitarium, then went to the Hillsboro Clinic. When Grant Buie hospital was built, she went to work for Dr. Grant & Dr. Buie. She then went on to be the very 1st female manager of Family Diagnostic and worked there for over 35 years. She retired in 1996.
Beth was a lifetime Methodist and a devoted member of Line Street Methodist Church where she served in many capacities. She loved her church and her Lord. Her favorite past time was loving on and cooking for her family! She was so very proud of her family.
She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, her parents, siblings, Reva Mae Glover, John Robert Burrell, Charles Hilton Burrell, James Milton Burrell and Nelda Jean Wright, a son, Rick Russell, son in law, Turner Hennig, step daughter, Molly Dorociak.
Those left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy are David Russell and wife Jan, daughter, Jill Hennig Jerrett and husband Todd, all of Hillsboro, daughter in law, Janice Russell of West. 2 step children, Merriam Hunnicutt and Marcie Ballard. 5 granddaughters, Jaime Doyle and husband Dusty of Amarillo, Jacy Russell of Mckinney, Jaron Trout and husband Matt of Ft. Worth, Jade Bumgarner and husband Evan of Mansfield and Jordyn Russell of West. 4 great granddaughters, Lucy Doyle and Molly Doyle of Amarillo, Evelyn Trout of Ft. Worth, Tressie Bumgarner of Mansfield and 1 great grandson, Turner Trout of Ft. Worth.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jeremiah Seely, the staff at Wesley House, the staff at Homestead Nursing & Rehab and Providence Hospice for the care provided to our sweet Mom (Gran).
