Betty Lou (Wilson) Allen

Betty Lou Allen, 90, of Hillsboro, Texas went to be with the Lord on January 18, 2021.  Betty will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.  Private family services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 21.  Services will be live streamed via Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Facebook page.  Facial masks and social distancing are required.

She was born to Carlus M. Wilson and Doris (Moore) Wilson on January 18, 1931, in Honey Grove, Texas where she attended school and spent her childhood.  After graduating high school, she went on to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator.  On Labor Day 1950, she met the love of her life, Carl Ray Allen, and they were married just a few short months later on February 2, 1951.  After a series of work-related moves early in their marriage, they settled on making Hillsboro their permanent home.  They adored one another in marriage for 51 years before his death in 2002.

Betty was a kind-spirited, soft-spoken, compassionate, fun-loving soul who loved the Lord and all of His creations, especially animals.  She was a talented artist and a crafty woodworker and seamstress.  She loved to bring out the beauty in things that might have not been so beautiful before she touched them.  No task was ever too difficult, and she never met a challenge too great to tackle.  Betty was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro.  She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, and she will be terribly missed by everyone whose life she touched.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Raulston and son-in-law, Steve Raulston; grandson Marc Raulston and his wife, Shelley; great-grandchildren, Addison (Addi) Raulston and Allen James (AJ) Raulston; brothers, Gerald and Tom Wilson; sister-in-law Linda Allen Kinkade and husband, David; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl R. Allen; mother, Doris M. Wilson; and father, Carlus M. Wilson.

Memorial may be made to the Hill County Paw Pals, P. O. Box 1533, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
