Betty Jean Campbell, 79, of Bynum passed away Friday, June 15, 2018 at Providence Hospice in Waco. Visitation will be Saturday, June 16,2018 from 1:30-3:30 p.m at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro with graveside services following at 4:00 p.m at Brandon Cemetery with Rev. Nancy Schusler officiating.
Betty was born August 2, 1938 in Blooming Grove, she was the daughter of Jerald Hugh (Dick) and Hazel Ruth (Pullen) Gillen. She grew up in Blooming Grove and married Harold Gene “Jack” Campbell on September 13, 1955 and he preceded her in death on July 11, 2008.
She worked in the medical field as a nurses technician for 21 years at Hill Regional Hospital. She had a passion for helping others and truly loved her job. Betty was also a long time member of the Hill County Roundup Club and loved riding horses. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren compete at horse shows. She was also a member of the Baptist faith.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Megan Gillen and brothers, Jerry H. and Johnny Gillen.
Survivors include children, Hank Campbell and wife, Sharon of Bynum; Tina Campbell Patton of Bynum; granddaughter, Angie Crawshaw and husband, Clint of West; Grandson, Shane Campbell of Bynum; aunt, Fannie Lee “Nannie” Dugan of Frost; brothers, Cecil Gillen (Donny) and wife Peggy of Corsicana, Michael Gillen of Pattonville, and Larry Hugh Gillen and wife, Terri of Blooming Grove; sisters, Lelia Brown and husband, James of Mesquite, Pam Giese and husband, Cliff of La Grange, Kathy Campbell and husband, Mike of Whitney; and numerous nieces and nephews; and her dog, Bear.
