Betty Jo Davis, a devoted sister, aunt, and friend passed away December 2, 2004 in Fort Worth at the age of 80. She was born September 9, 1924 in Bynum, Texas to Clarry and Bertie Laurence Counts. She attended Hillsboro Public Schools and Hillsboro Junior College. Betty married Air Force Captain William T. Akins in 1947 and he died in a plane crash six months later. In 1950, she married Wendell Davis. He died in 2001. She was an employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone for 34 years, retiring in 1977 from the Waco office. Betty was baptized at the age of 19 and was a member of the College Hill Church of Christ. Survivors include three brothers, Henry Counts and wife, Marinelle, of Cleburne, Kenneth Counts of Cleburne, and Ben Counts and wife, Becky, of Arlington; two nieces, Cheryl Bailey and husband, Mike, of Cleburne and Angela Hazelip and husband, Pat, of Plano; six great-nephews, Zach, Joel, and Michael Bailey and Patrick, Andrew, and Philip Hazelip; two sisters-in-law, Lena Davis of Hillsboro and Anabel Kirkland and husband, Jean, of Waco; and a nephew, Douglas W. Davis.
