Betty Joyce Edens, 63, of Hillsboro died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at her residence. Betty was born October 20, 1944 in Pauls Valley, OK the daughter of Ed and Alma Joyce Pendley Harbin. She grew up in Midland and graduated from Midland Lee High School and received her Bachelors degree from Indiana University. She later went on to receive her Masters degree from East Texas State. On May 29, 1964 she married Eugene Edens. For six years she taught school in Kaufman at Monday Primary and then for 14 years she taught at Hillsboro and Franklin Elementary schools. She was a member of College Hill Church of Christ in Hillsboro and also the Heritage League. Preceding her in death were her father, Ed, and grandmother, Mary Pendley. Survivors include her husband, Eugene Edens of Hillsboro; mother, Joyce Harbin of Hillsboro; children, Mike Edens and wife, Amanda, of Bentonville, AR, Anne-Marie DeWitt and husband, Justin of Austin, and Kristen Babovec and husband, Lee, of Garland; brother, Eddie Harbin and wife, Patti, of Richardson; and two grandchildren, Mallory Edens and Eden Babovec.
