Betty Meeks

Betty Meeks, 86, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2022, at Bynum Baptist Church in Bynum with Rev. Edward Sumrall.

Betty was born January 2, 1936, in Abbott, Texas, to William Riley and Eva Allyne (Edison) Wooten.  On March 5, 1953, Betty was united in marriage to Archie “Tommy” Meeks.

Betty devoted her adult life to teaching.  After retiring from the public school system, she worked for McLennan Community College.  While at MCC, she worked with students to complete their GED testing.  She also assisted in coordinating bible studies and activities at Emerald Village in Hillsboro.  She loved her family and friends and greatly enjoyed spending time with them.  She was currently a member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro and a former member of Bynum Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Tommy in 2009; and sister, Doris Shelley.

Survivors include her children, Leonard Meeks and spouse, Vikki, and Kathey Escobedo and spouse, Tony; five grandchildren, Derrek Escobedo (Brandy), Caleb Escobedo (Jordan), Brittney Harris (Jermey), Chase Brown, and Parker Brown; five great-grandchildren, Jaden Monterrubio, Kinsley Monterrubio, Brayden Harris, Carson Harris, and Peyton Harris; and her special friends, especially her friends at Emerald Retirement Village.

The family would like to give special thanks to the nursing staff and doctors at Hill Regional Hospital and Community Healthcare of Texas.
