Betty "Betts" Snavely

Betty “Betts” Snavely, 85, of Whitney, passed away on May 31, 2016, at a Waco hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 3, 2016, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Whitney. A visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Friday prior to the service.

Betty was born on August 19, 1930, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to Carl and Sara Ellen (Bunn) Justinus. On February 20, 1949, she married Carl Snavely in Johnstown. In 2012, the couple moved to Whitney from Johnstown to be near their children.

She took great pride in her homemaking, especially hanging her laundry “just so”. She loved to share with others by teaching her ceramics, and there wasn’t a dog she didn’t love. Betty was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Johnstown, PA and was also a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Carl; and a sister, Shirley Diefenbach.

Survivors include her children, David Snavely and wife Cindy of Charles Town, West Virginia; Scott Snavely and wife, Eiko of Whitney; and Laurie Miller and husband, Todd of Whitney; grandsons, J. T. Miller and Cord Miller; and a brother, Robert Justinus of Johnstown, PA.
