Bettye Zue Bourland Wallace, 94, of Hillsboro passed away Monday evening, February 27, 2017, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery.
Bettye was born November 20, 1922 in Hillsboro to Abner Benjamin Bourland and Iva Wells Bourland. She was a Presbyterian. She lived most of her life in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School. Bettye went on to attend Hill College and North Texas University. In 1943, she married Navy Lt. Raymond Ferguson “Skinner” Wallace. Bettye was a homemaker and loved the job. Her boys’ friends were always welcome.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; son, Stephen Wallace; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Zapalac Wallace.
Survivors include her sons, Benny Raymond “Skipper” Wallace and wife, Marcia, of Lampasas and Samuel Smith Wallace of Hillsboro; three granddaughters, Natalie Taylor and husband, Scott, of Meadowlakes, Kristine Jacob and husband, Brian, of San Antonio, and Audrey Lindner of Lampasas; and nine great-grandchildren, Alexander Bennett, Nathaniel Bennett, Elizabeth Bennett, Benjamin Jacob, Hailey Jacob, Braxton Jacob, John Ryleigh Lindner, Piper Lindner, and Kallie Lindner.
