Beverly Wooten

Born Beverly Jean Schrader on December 22, 1920 in Cheney, Washington, to parents William F. Schrader of German descent and Janet Ingels Melville Schrader of Scottish descent. After World War II broke out, Beverly went to work as a riveter on the B-27 & B-29 bombers. These women were known as Rosie the Riveters. This work took her to San Diego, California in 1944. While there she met her husband of 59 years, Marion ?Bill? Wooten. They were married on Friday the 13th in September of 1946. Bill was a navy man, so now Beverly was off on a wonderful journey to see the world. This life style suited her; she enjoyed moving and meeting new people. She was the ideal military bride. She was able to live in such interesting places as Guam, Alaska, Washington D.C., Maryland and also lived in Hawaii when it became the 50th state in August of 1959. Beverly was a very active woman, she loved to dance, play tennis and swim, and she was an excellent diver off the high dive. After her husband retired from the navy, they made their home in Seattle, Washington. She went to work for the government. Beverly and Bill had made a deal, they would spend the first half of his retirement in Washington, and then move to his place of birth, Whitney, Texas. They moved to Whitney in 1979, but still traveled to Washington every year in their motor home which Beverly drove. She was very active in her church and loved to do crafts and make gifts. She was a very generous woman. Her husband, her two sons, her parents, 5 brothers and one sister precede her in death. One sister, Elizabeth Smith of Washington, grand children, plus her adopted family survive her. Beverly has gone home to be with her Heavenly Father and her loved ones who have gone on before her. Her favorite saying was ?They have winged themselves to a better home? which she so longed for after many complications from several strokes. Beverly will definitely be remembered for her strong personality and generosity. Memorials: Hospice of the Heart, PO Box 2081, Whitney, TX 76692
