Biography

Bill Benfer, 83, of Whitney, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 in Whitney. Graveside services for Mr. Benfer will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Smith Bend-Coon Creek Cemetery in Bosque County. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.
Bill was born in Ballenger, Texas on October 21, 1929, to Joe and Genie Causey Benfer. He married Viola Louise Rolen. After, 37 years with S.W. Bell Telelphone Company, he retired and moved to the river. He was passed president of the local 6201 Communications Workers of America in Fort Worth. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps. An active member of the American Legion Post 522 of Lake Whitney, he was also a Master Mason He lived the last four years at the Country Club Retirement Community.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Benfer of Whitney; daughter, Sandra Jones amd companion, Clarence Britton, of Clifton; son Larry Benfer and wife Jeni, of Clifton; and daughter, Pam Benfer of Arlington; grandchildren, Brian Jones and wife, Tanahia; Angel Kidd and husband, Mike; Lindsay McFarland; Chris Benfer and partner, Jesse Contreras; Chase Brown; Alex Brazzell and husband, Patrick; numerous great-grandchildren, and many friends who loved him.
