Bill Johnson, 84, of Mesquite, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015, in a Dallas hospital. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2015, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro with Bro. Ken Ashlock of New Liberty Baptist Church in Garland officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro. His family will host a memorial service in his honor at 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2015, at Fairhaven Baptist Church in Mesquite with Bro. Jim Slocumb officiating.
Born October 21, 1930 in Osceola, he was the son of Benjamin and Ocie Mae (Yocham) Johnson. He grew up in Hill County. In April 1951, Bill was united in marriage to Jo McKinney. Bill was saved by the Lord in 1958 and at that time joined Walnut Street Baptist Church. For over 40 years, he was an auto paint and body mechanic in Hillsboro. In his spare time, he enjoyed bird hunting, especially quail, raising bird dogs, and gardening. He was a member of Fairhaven Baptist Church in Mesquite.
Preceding him in death were his parents; five brothers, Elbert, J. G., Orville B., Benny, and James Marvin Johnson; and two sisters, Eura Mae Neal and Della Marie Williams.
Survivors include his loving wife, of 64 years, Jo Johnson of Mesquite; two sons, Lonnie Johnson and wife, Sharon, of Mesquite and Lowell Johnson and wife, Marla, of Longview; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorials may be made to Fairhaven Baptist Church, 1510 Pioneer Road, Mesquite, TX 75149.
