Bill Stacey, 74, of Hillsboro died Monday, July 23, 2007, at his residence. Bill was born February 15, 1933 in Wagoner, Oklahoma the son of Lewis Stacey and Viola Marie Brogden. As a young man he entered the military and served in Korea, where he was disabled and received a Purple Heart. In 1949 he married Alice Eleanor Brock and they had two sons, Billy Joe Stacey who died in 1970 and James Lee Stacey. He later married Ester Viola Proffitt and they had three children, Carolyn Jean Stacey who died in March 2007, Sharon K. Stacey Epting, and John Lewis Stacey who died in May 1997. He later married Ruby Manus and they had one son, Carl Dewayne Stacey. He later married Betty Jane Hunsacker in Fort Worth and she preceded him in death on December 16, 2001. He did volunteer work for Itasca Nursing Home. He enjoyed participating in the Texas Sideband Radio Group and amateur radio association. He also collected miniature antique cars and doing leather craft. Bill was a lifetime member of DAV Chapter 215 in Whitney, lifetime member of VFW, and a past member of the American Legion. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Bridgeway and Outreach Hospice, Dr. Allan Lane, and other volunteers for their immense support and compassion. Also preceding him in death were his parents, one brother; and one sister. Survivors include three children, James Lee Stacey and wife, Deanette, of Del City, OK, Sharon K. Epting and husband, Boyd, of Peoria, and Carl Dewayne Stacey and wife, Melanie, of Tahlequah, OK; brother, William Stacey and wife, Annaliese, of Hanes, AK; sister, Geneva Bradfield and husband, Jake, of Wagoner, OK; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 1 step-great grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Bridgeway Hospice, DAV #215 in Whitney, or any of the local nursing homes.
