?Mr. Lake Whitney? Bill Woodside, 87, of Whitney, passed away June 2, 2006 in Whitney. Bill was born on Dec. 7, 1918 in Paris to J. Frank and Minnie Mae Ritchie Woodside. He served his country during World War II in the Marines. He married Hazel Lourie Coker on June 20, 1949 in Paris and she preceded him in death on August 25, 1990. He owned and operated Lake Whitney Views Newspaper in Whitney for many years and had worked as a reporter and photographer for Hillsboro Evening Mirror. Bill was very instrumental in getting Kimbrell Bend Bridge restored and started the Lake Whitney Humane Society. Fifty three years ago, he started the Lake Whitney Beauty Pageant and the tradition still continues on. He was a member of King Memorial United Methodist Church in Whitney, American Legion Post #522, VFW Post # 8571 and the Whitney Lions Club. Preceding Bill in death were his parents, and son, Robert Seymor Bob Hirsch. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Hospice of the Heart and Park Plaza Nursing Home for their loving and tender care to Bill. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Leonard W. Greenwade; grandsons, Skip Greenwade and wife Gabby, Kyle Greenwade and wife Carol; great grandson, Collin Buck Greenwade all of Crosby, TX.
