Billie Cleveland McClain, 95, of Whitney, passed away on August 30, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Keller. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 4, 2017, at First Church of the Nazarene in Whitney with Rev. Greg Johnson and Rev. Dennis Knight, officiating. Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors of Whitney are in charge of the arrangements. A committal service will take place at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth. She will lie in state on Sunday, September 3, 2017, from 9 - 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Billie was born on May 23, 1922, in Cisco, to Issac and Ethel (Massey) Wright. On June 26, 1938, she married Bill Cleveland on a Sunday morning at the church parsonage. They were married for 33 years before he passed away in May of 1971. On December 6, 1971, she married Harold McClain and they were married for 38 years before he passed away in June of 2009. She had two wonderful husbands. A resident of Whitney, she was also a longtime, faithful member of the Whitney First Church of the Nazarene. Billie was a homemaker.
Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, Pete McCoy, Abner, Alton and Jake Wright; and a sister, Rose Earline Doty.
Survivors include four children, Ella Overly and husband, Robert, Mary Brown, Von Ceil Evans, Rocky Cleveland and wife, Dianne; two step-children, Marilyn Campbell and husband, Jim and Jean McClain; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
