Billie Marlin Schulz, 84, of Abbott passed away Monday, February 13, 2017, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Stephen Bradley and Rev. Billy Schulz, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Yates Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16, at the funeral home.

Born December 17, 1932 in Hill County, he was the son of Arthur Marlin and Ruby Lee (Roberts) Schulz. He grew up in the Bethel Community in Hill County and graduated from Abbott High School in 1951. On January 6, 1952, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Dorothy Lee Lichnovsky, in Whitney. During the Korean War, Billie served his country with the 531st Anti Aircraft Artillery of the United States Army.

After working for General Dynamics for about 10 years, he was employed at Bell Helicopter for almost 20 years as a foreman. Billie continued being a cattle rancher following his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his leisure time.

Billie had a deep devotion and love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His strong Christian belief was apparent in his faithful membership at Abbott Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, Sunday school teacher for 46 years, and song-leader for about 20 years. Billie was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.

Preceding him in death were his parents and wife, Dorothy Lee Schulz, on May 22, 2009.

Survivors include his three children, Billy Schulz and wife, Barbara, Brenda Thomas and husband, David, and Debbie Blaha and husband, Thomas; two sisters, Betty Willis and husband, Jack, and Faye Wingate; eight grandchildren, Billy Schulz, Jr., Tami Sheffield, Amanda San Andres, Philip Blaha, Jill Blaha, Shawn Stinson, Khristopher Stinson, and Jeremy Stinson; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Abbott Baptist Church, P. O. Box 38, Abbott, TX 76621.
