Billie Williams

Billie N. Williams, 81, passed away Sunday morning, January 13, 2013 at St. Joseph Manor in Bryan. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 16th, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Kenneth James officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.

Born on March 4, 1931 in McDade, Texas to Joseph and Sarah (Hills) English, Billie grew up in Bastrop. She graduated from Bastrop High School in 1949. On April 30th of that same year, she married Charles Richard Williams, who preceded her in death on November 23, 1989. The couple spent most of their married years in Hillsboro, moving there in 1966. In 2008, Billie moved to Bryan to be near her daughters.

For 15 years, Billie was employed at Wal-Mart in Hillsboro, retiring in 1998. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and working word search puzzles.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Robert English; four sisters, Verna Ruth Ban, Lillie Pearl Phillips, Oma Mae Haufler and Edna Mae Jones.

Billie is survived by her daughters, Connie Beaty, and husband, Harold, of College Station, Sharon Sawyer and husband, Don, of McKinney and Barbara Newsom and husband, Walter, of Bryan; two grandchildren, Greg Newsom of Bryan and Brad Newsom of Houston; great-grandchildren, Kristin, Kody and Kyle Newsom of College Station; brother, Charles Lee English of Sun City, AZ; sister, Bonnie Susan of Smithville and numerous nieces and nephews.
