Billy Hooker

Billy C. Hooker, 87, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend went to be with his Lord, March 5, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Judge F. B. “Bob” McGregor and Kevin Mickits officiating. Burial will follow at Peoria Cemetery in Peoria. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, at the funeral home.

Billy Charles Hooker was born November 23, 1925 in Peoria to Samuel Alexander and Edna (Cliett) Hooker. He attended Hillsboro High School and Hill Junior College. At the age of 18 in 1943, he was drafted into WWII and served in combat in France and Germany until the end of the war. He was awarded the bronze star for his battle service.

On March 16, 1957, he married Barbara J. Beasley in Dallas. For forty years, he was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Mr. Hooker was a proud mason and a member of the Grande Lodge of Texas, Hillsboro #196, and a member of Karem Shrine.

Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, Kenneth Raymond Hooker, Cliett Alex Hooker, John Hugh Hooker, and Leonard R. Hooker; and one sister, Margarite Rice.

Survivors include his wife of fifty six years, Barbara J. Hooker; two sons, Charles C. Hooker of Hitchcock and David C. Hooker of Whitney; two daughters, Julie A. Mickits and husband, Kevin, of Boerne and Janyth L. Riedel and husband, Larry, of Victoria; five grandchildren, Brandon H. Daniel, Amy E. Daniel, Kevin T. Mickits, Julianna N. Mickits, and Brooks A. Mickits; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Christopher Daniel; brother, Lewis L. Hooker of Tyler; beloved sister, Mary E. Pickett of Chandler; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

Although heaven rejoices his arrival, he will be deeply missed.
