Billy Kelm

Billy Kelm, age 65, of Abbott passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 5, 2016, at Westview Manor in McGregor after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 8, 2016, at Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Michael Nemec officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Malone. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Billy was born in Hillsboro on January 10, 1951, to Samuel Paul Otto and Julia Masqulene (Jones) Kelm. He graduated from Bynum High School in 1971 and lived in Hill County most of his life. Talented in many fields, he worked in carpentry, cabinetry and electrical work throughout a varied career. Most recently, he had been employed at Slovacek’s in West.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed woodworking and crocheting, often making gifts for friends and family. He also volunteered with Meal & Wheels in Hill County and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.

Preceding him in death were his father; grandparents; nephew, Jimmy; and twin infant nieces. Survivors include his daughter, Candice Kelm of Bellmead; mother, “Mac” Kelm of Abbott; two brothers, Danny Kelm and wife, Avalon, of Bynum and Sammy Kelm and wife, Donna, of Arlington; four sisters, Barbara Padgett and husband, Denny, of Waco, Retha Adams and husband, Ronnie, of Aquilla, Joyce Canales and husband, Bobby, of Kyle, and Wanda Pustejovsky and husband, Charlie, of Abbott; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family would also like to extend special thanks to Dr. Ofobuike Okani and the staff of Texas Oncology Horizon in Waco, Bluebonnet Hospice, Westview Manor and Rehabilitation Center in McGregor, and Slovacek’s of West for their care and concern shown to Billy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 915 Corsicana Highway, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
