Billy Gene Lenamond, age 92 of Whitney passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Church of Christ in Whitney, Texas with Bruce Martin officiating. Burial will be at Cobb Cemetery in Groesbeck, Texas at 2:00 P.M. following lunch at the church. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney.
Billy Gene Lenamond was born in Groesbeck, Texas in 1929. He became a farmer, a husband, a father, a reproduction manager and a company Vice President. Upon completing the 8th grade, he was called to help his family on their farm and never returned to school. Years later he moved to Dallas, Tx and worked for the Dallas Morning News. a number of years, later on he took a position in the reproduction dept of DeGolyer and MacNaughton, an energy exploration and mapping company. Some 35 years later Billy retired as a Vice President. He took great pride in his family throughout his life. His next accomplishment and enjoyment was the building of his 2-story house at Lake Whitney. With the help of his family the house was hand built and made to last for decades.
Billy leaves behind 1 sister, 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great child (5th generation). Billy Gene Lenamond left behind an amazing legacy for the generations to follow. He will be sorely missed.
