Billy Joe Mangum, 64, of Hillsboro passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Hillcrest in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2018, at the Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Pastor Rob McDonald of Lone Star Cowboy Church in Abbott officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11, at the funeral home.
Born October 2, 1954, in Waco, he was the son of William Joseph and Modean (Malone) Mangum. He grew up in Hillsboro and attended TSTI in Waco. On March 29, 1974, Billy Joe was united in marriage to Nancy Bowden. For 25 years, he worked at Vesuvius before their closing. He retired from KBS Electrical Supply after 11 years of service. When he was not cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, Baylor Bears, or Texas Rangers, you could find Billy Joe fishing, woodworking, and watching other sports. He was a member of the Lone Star Cowboy Church in Abbott.
Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Nancy Mangum of Hillsboro; four children, Chris Mangum and wife, Katrina, of Grandview, Shana Hight and husband, Kevin, of West, Jody Mangum and wife, Julie, of Itasca, and Brandi Andrle and husband, Craig, of Ross; sister, Reba Priest of Jersey Village; and eight grandchildren, Rydge West of Grandview, Kristian Mangum of Itasca, Cameren Hight of West, Austin Mangum of Itasca, Fisher Mangum and River Mangum, both of Grandview, and Kaylee Jo Andrle and Colton “Scooter” Andrle, both of Ross.
