Born July 18, 1945 in Waco, he was the son of George Thomas and Lillie (Adams) Montgomery. He grew up and lived his whole life within a 5 mile radius of Aquilla. A 1963 graduate of Aquilla High School, he went on to attend four years of college at Tarleton State University. Upon his return home, Billy was united in marriage to Judy Peters on March 29, 1968 in Whitney and the couple planted their roots on the family farm. He was even recognized as “Farmer of The Year.”
Billy’s recreational and full time job was being a Dad and Grandpa. You could always find him cheering on his children and grandchildren at their many activities. He helped coach baseball teams and Little Dribblers. Even before having children, he began a baseball team for his nephews that he coached. Billy was a big influence and mentor to many children through the years, both boys and girls. He was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church near Aquilla.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Tommy Joe Montgomery; brother-in-law, Gene Burkhart; nephew, Jerry Burkhart; and father-in-law, Edward Peters.
